flickrFaves Wordpress Plugin2007 · Kevin Driver · 15 Comments » · 7:28 pm
I wrote my first Wordpress plugin today.
It’s called flickrFaves, and it does something that I (and seemingly many other people) have wanted for a long time. With it, you can add your favorite photos from Flickr to your Wordpress blog.
It requires an edited Favoritas de Flickr en RSS (now included and renamed to ‘flickrss.php’). This code actually does most of the heavy-lifting by getting the favorites into an RSS format.
I created flickrFaves by modeling it after flickrRSS. I have GPL’d my code as well, since the flickrRSS code it was based on is GPL.
I give you flickrFaves: flickrFaves.
Please provide feedback, and I’ll fix bugs as I’m notified about them.

Excellent plugin, thanks!
Would be cool if there were an option to display a link to your Favorites page on your Flickr account at the bottom as well, since the plugin only shows the most recent.

That’s a good idea. When I’ve got some time, I’ll add it. Thanks George!

I’ve just published version 1.0.1 of the plugin after a long hiatus. It should work with the latest favorites page code, and it incorporates George’s feature request.

Hi, i’m having a hard time getting it to work- when you say “flickr username” - do you mean the name we log-in with, which in my case has an @ symbol in it, or the public name of the flickr account? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi Jay,
If the URL to your photo page is: http://www.flickr.com/photos/*USERNAME* then *USERNAME* is the value that you need to put in.
Hope that helps.

forgive my ignorance, but how do you use this plugin? include some code on a page? call a function?

I should have it configured, but I get this ” I get “Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_flickrRSS() in /home/tokytit3/public_html/wp-content/plugins/exec-php/includes/runtime.php(41) : eval()’d code on line 1″
any thanks would be great
Thanks
Chris
