Life As It Comes
Vineman 70.35 Comments
Over the weekend, I signed up for Vineman Ironman 70.3. The race is July 19, 2009. As of now, this will be my first half-ironman distance triathlon. It’s possible that I might add in another one before then, but we’ll see.
Triathlon started out as a one-time goal for me, but it’s quickly becoming a full-time hobby. I’m looking forward to testing myself to see what I can do at this distance. Sprints got to be pretty easy by the end of the summer. The Olympic distance wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t quite where I hoped to be. Half-Iron should be a good test of what I’m capable of accomplishing.
Goals between now and then:
- Fix my running stance/posture
- Continue cutting time from my race-pace mile
- Obtain and get used to aero-bars
Austin Tri Race Report3 Comments
I accomplished one of my goals for this year, a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to share about it with you. I competed in an Olympic-distance triathlon on September 1, here in Austin, Texas. Here is my recap of the race:
Heading into Race Weekend5 Comments
Well, it’s nearly here. This weekend (actually on Monday), I’ll compete in The Austin Triathlon.
Almost three months ago, I began training with T3, and what a ride, it’s been! I remember looking at the training periodization that Chrissie gave me during my first spin class and thinking “there’s no way, I’ll get up to maxing out at 40-50 miles on a Saturday.” Here I am, on the other side of that. T3 has been huge in encouraging me, getting me prepared, and making me confident going into this race, and today it’s hitting me — I can’t wait!
4:30 AM wake-up times for Courtyard swims.
Running hills behind O Henry.
Circuit training at Zilker.
Biking from Kiker through Kyle and Buda and from South 360 well up Parmer.
Spin at PTC.
Two-a-day Wednesdays.
Track work-outs.
Core.
Bricks.
Two sprint-tris.
I’m psyched. I’m ready. Bring it.
Two Weeks6 Comments
The Austin Triathlon is just under two weeks away.
Thanks to all the family and friends that have been supporting me thus far. I’m excited and a little nervous, but it won’t be long now!
Jack’s Generic Tri4 Comments
This Sunday is another sprint-distance race - Jack’s Generic Tri. New Braunfels is a significant drive from Georgetown, especially at 4 or 5 in the morning, so I’ll be staying in San Marcos overnight on Saturday night.
I found a bed and breakfast that was actually cheaper than all the hotels I checked with, so I’ll be staying at Crystal River Inn. That should be fun, and I’m looking forward to it.
Plus, I’ll have another race under my belt.
