Life As It Comes
To the Faithful5 Comments
This one goes out to the faithful readers. It’s been a while since I’ve written. I was on vacation up north, visiting family and friends (of which I saw many). On my second day of vacation, I woke up with a fever but still managed to see everyone I had planned and to put 1077 miles on the rental car!
Last Monday when I got back, I went to work and then went to the doctor later that afternoon. My temperature was one degree warmer than normal, and my lungs sounded fine to the doctor, so I went back to work. Tuesday, I woke up feeling like a train-wreck. I went back to work and back to the doctor in the afternoon. My fever was 103, and I was told I had pneumonia!
A week (and 15 pounds) later, I feel back to my old self more or less. Sadly though, I missed The Livestrong Challenge. Thanks so much to so many of you who supported me (and others) in that. It did not go unnoticed, even though I was unable to ride.
This week, I’m going to try to put some weight back on and get healthy enough to get back to some T3 workouts, maybe by next week.
Thanks so much to the friends who brought (and offered to bring) me things while I was sick. I appreciate it so very much!
Texas4 Comments
This past June, I hit the five-year mark as a Texas resident. People have heard me say “Texas,” on occasion, with a shake of my head and mocking in my voice. Usually it has to do with the lack of seasons compared to what I’m used to, having grown up in the Midwest. Sometimes, a particularly scorching summer day or some humorous or silly aspect of the state or its inhabitants will elicit that response, too.
This weekend, I spent a few moments in the midst of my various goings-on to reflect on how much I’ve grown to love Texas.
Letterman3 Comments
I’d just like to say that I love Letterman. He’s a classy guy and, in one show, can go from sincere and heartfelt moments to completely hilarious dry humor, riffing all the way.
He’s one of the greats in late night.
Finding Some RestNo Comments
I am taking tonight to rest and recover. I am in need of some decompression time.
Austin Tri Race Report3 Comments
I accomplished one of my goals for this year, a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to share about it with you. I competed in an Olympic-distance triathlon on September 1, here in Austin, Texas. Here is my recap of the race:
