All the Runners Run4 Comments

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Are you (am I) taking spiritual training seriously? 1 Cor 9:24-27.

it’s cool how all the physical training you’re doing gives such a beautiful picture of how our pursuit of God should be. training’s not easy, takes dedication, and sometimes it even hurts and requires band aids. =) however, it gets you closer to the prize and that’s what our lives are all about.

When I think of this passage, I like to connect it to him saying “The first shall be last and the last shall be first” so running in such a way to get the prize = being in last place = not running at all. Maybe even walking backwards or eating a doughnut.

    No disrespect
