Ode to the Ampersand2008 · Kevin Driver · 6 Comments » · 10:17 am

Have you ever thought about the ampersand? Where did it get its shape? Why is it named that way? Well, my friends, today you’re in luck.

Jason Kottke linked to an article recently about this special character, which I found interesting enough to spend some more time reading about it on Wikipedia.

More and more as I think about web design, I find typography interesting, so that is why I would post about something like this. However, did you know that software developers frequently use the ampersand as well?

I really enjoyed that article/summary. I feel bad for not even ever questioning where that symbol came from…but now…I’m just *gestures* this much more intellegent.

Does anyone know of a good article spinning script. Looking to take my articles and PLR articles and spin them.
